£3900 when the greenkeepers budget got cut by £10000+ this year No.9 Untitled
Fair point. The most important part of a golf club is the course and thats where the money should be spent. It does seem to be a rather needless purchase No.10 Untitled
Cant please every1 , IMO its a forward move by the club , Ob the commitee sat down and discussed it (thats why WE appoint them , as for the budget decrease for the green staff, you got to give them all praise for the condition the course has been in this season with there reducement of cash , well done Alan and his team No.11 Untitled
defi emp but a machine just broke down n no money 2 replace it but can find money 4 the new system No.12 Untitled
Point taken Paul , but breakdowns can happen anytime (i know i work with machinery) wonder if we would have had the same discussion if the old score input machine had broke down , then where would we be ? How would we post scores?. No.13 Untitled
but the point is....it wasnt broken

money is being spent on course but weather doesn't help. No.15 Untitled
have they not been struggling to keep the old computer going for years, so surely you have to upgrade eventually, even if they have cut the greenkeepers money, you would hardly notice as the course looks in great nick considering the weather we've been getting No.16 Match Secretary
Thats uncalled for Ronnie, it's attitudes like that which will make me consider if will continue next year. I have kept out of this debate as it's the members right to air his opinion, but now it's becoming personal!!!!!! No.17 Untitled
Dont be thinking its personal Tom i'm sure it isn't. Personally i think its a fantastic system. New system was long overdue so why not get "best on market" there is a fantastic team of guys keeping course and machinery in great nick and i'm sure that'll be the case, no matter what, for a long time to come so lets not get too bogged down in politics and petty squabbles No.18 Untitled
i agree its a great system jim and tommy is doing a great job No.19 Match Secretary
In my book when someone who is ignorant of how many hours I give of my time working for Braehead tells me to go and earn my money I take it as unwarranted and see it as a personal slight on me. No.20 Untitled
nobody has said that tc, am sure every1 no's how much work u put in. its just a debate on the system so dont take it personally No.21 Untitled
if you feel so strongly about the way the club is being run you can always take over at the A.G.M.but get your facts right first. The committee realise that the course is our main asset and money is being spent when available.By the way, tommy puts in far more hours than match secretaries of any other clubs. No.22 Untitled
nobody is sayin yous dont do a great job so dont no why every1 is getting upset about it, its just an opinion No.23 Untitled
You're entitled to your opinion and i was just stating my support for T.C. Our computer kept crashing and needed renewed. Tommy put it to committee and we decided that for the few extra quid, we should upgrade. No.24 Untitled
END OF, Surely No.25 Untitled
I hope so too, Jim No.26 Untitled

been on hols so this is the first chance to reply regarding my post on this topic. First of all it was not a personal attack on the work Tommy does in his position as match secretary. It was made in reply to Empos post on how would we post the scores if the old computer broke down,ie stick your cards in the box and Tommy would have to sift through every card and thus take up a lot more of his time and effort. It was merely an off the cuff remark and not meant as a personal attack. Tommy is right when he says I'm ignorant to the amount of hours he gives to the club but I'm not ignorant to the fact that competitions don't run themselves and require the effort of people like Tommy. With regard to getting my facts right before commenting I dont go to commitee meetings so I couldn't tell you how much the greens budget even is. The only figures I'm aware of are the ones posted previously on this forum, but if the cost of this system is correct (£3900) I dont consider this amount as "a few extra quid". I wont be looking to take over the club either, I think we should be looking for a Russian or Arab Billionaire . Two more things. Where's my comment? and to No.29 Holland No.34 Untitled
at 5 to 1 in a southern hemisphere country my money is on brasil to win and an african team to make the semi finals No.35 Untitled
